A few years ago, instead of sending Mom a Thanksgiving Day card, I wrote the following poem for her. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I would share it with you.

“I Am So Blessed”

I am the person, I am today,
Because “can’t is not a word,” is what you’d say.
So I grew up believing that I could achieve,
My greatest desires and all of my dreams.

“Show respect for your elders, be kind and never lie,”
And, “If God loves everyone, then so should I.”
And, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.”
Are just a few of the things that you used to tell.

For all the life lessons,
You taught and you stressed;
For living by example,
I am so blessed!

“Be tolerant of others, walk a mile in their shoes,
Life is about choices, so watch what you choose.
Where there’s life there’s hope,” you’d always say,
“And don’t sweat the little things, for tomorrow’s a new day.”

“Give with your heart, and get back tenfold;
Live life to its fullest, and rock when you’re old.”
Oh, what a legacy you’ve given me!
Your wisdom to pass on to my family.

For all the life lessons,
You taught and you stressed;
For living by example,
I am so blessed!

Thanks, Mom!

Happy Thanksgiving

Love,

Linda
