Substitute teaching

I finally found a place to post about my experiences as a substitute teacher! The school year is coming to a close, but I can post as I remember all the things that happened. Subbing is a job that changes every day. Different schools, different students, different ages, etc. I’ve subbed in quite a variety of situations, and look forward to sharing some of what I do.

I’ll never forget one day as a sub… there was a kid there around age 10 who really didn’t have anything. From the sounds of it, he didn’t even necessarily get all three meals each day. But, I was there around Valentine’s Day, and he gave me a little box of candy (one with those conversation hearts). I thought it was the sweetest thing!

Many times, I’ve subbed at places with disadvantaged children. I often wonder how they are.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, Katia, and all other teachers out there!
