1 tablespoon butter or bacon drippings
2 cups buttermilk
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups stone-ground white cornmeal
1. Preheat oven at 450 F.
2. Take a skillet and put butter into it. Place it in oven.
3. Take a bowl and mix egg and buttermilk.
4. Take another bowl and mix sugar, salt, baking soda and cornmeal well.
5. Stir in egg mixture into flour one.
6. Take skillet out from oven and transfer the batter into it.
7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
